PRESIDENT: Robert Belanger: Manitoba Conservation

Robert Belanger is the District Supervisor of the Manitoba Department of Conservation Grand Beach District. His 26 year career as a Natural Resource Officer has taken him to many Manitoba communities where he's enjoyed sharing common duties with Federal, Provincial and Municipal law enforcement officers.

In 2004 Robert spearheaded the creation of the Manitoba Conservation Natural Resource Officer Honour Guard. As their commander Robert leads the "Guard" at the Peace Officer Memorial ceremony held every September at the Manitoba Legislature. The Honour Guard takes great pride in recognizing the 6 Manitoba Natural Resource Officers who lost their lives while on duty.

Robert has been involved with the Peace Officer Memorial project since its infancy six years ago. He endeavours to complete this wonderful project in honour of the families of the fallen. Robert is truly humbled that his fellow board members nominated him for President of the Peace Officer Memorial Foundation Board.

DELINDA LARIVIERE: FEDERAL CORRECTIONS

Hello everyone,

My name is Delinda LaRiviere and I have been a Correctional Officer at Stony Mountain Institution and Rockwood Institution as part of The Correctional Service of Canada for over 22 years. I have represented my fellow staff and Institution at numerous ceremonies, schools and volunteer positions. I am also a member of The Correctional Officers Care for Kids Committee which consists of Correctional Officers from Provincial and Federal levels mainly assisting charities involving children who have experienced trauma, tragedy or are terminally ill.

Whether I am in regular or ceremonial dress, I am extremely proud to wear my uniform. Throughout my career I have witnessed difficult events and honouring members of the law enforcement community is something very dear to my heart. I have attended four Memorials in Ottawa and this past year in Winnipeg, over the years and am overwhelmed each time as I witness thousands of officers from all over the world come together to honour the fallen.

When I was presented with the opportunity to be a part of Manitoba history with the Manitoba Peace Officer Memorial Foundation I leapt at the chance. I want to thank those of you supporting us in our endeavour and I will do my utmost to represent Federal Corrections.

Yours,

Delinda LaRiviere
Correctional Officer
